Frequently asked Questions For Clients
How long will I need to stay in treatment?
The length of treatment depends on your individual recovery progress and needs. Unlike programs that have a fixed end date, we focus on providing the level of support each person needs to build a strong foundation for long-term recovery.
In general, we encourage clients to remain engaged in treatment and recovery support services for at least one year. Treatment may include multiple levels of care as you progress through recovery.
When can I start working?
Employment is often introduced as part of the recovery process.
Many clients begin exploring employment opportunities while participating in Level 2.5 services. For those progressing through the full treatment continuum, employment may be delayed until they have established stability in treatment, often after spending several months in Level 2.1 services.
Our goal is to help clients build a strong recovery foundation before taking on additional responsibilities.
What does the treatment process look like?
Every recovery journey is unique, but a typical progression may include:
- Residential/Inpatient Treatment: Typically 30–60 days
- Level 2.5 (Day Treatment/Intensive Services): Usually 1–3 months or longer depending on progress
- Level 2.1 (Intensive Outpatient Services): Continued treatment with increasing independence
- Level 1.0 (Outpatient Services): Ongoing recovery support while maintaining work, family, and daily responsibilities
Our team regularly evaluates your progress and helps determine the most appropriate next steps.
Do you offer outpatient treatment only?
Yes. We offer outpatient treatment options for individuals who have their own housing and do not require residential services.
Outpatient treatment plans vary based on individual needs and may include counseling, group therapy, case management, and recovery support services several times per week.
What is Level 1.0 outpatient treatment?
Level 1.0 outpatient treatment is designed for individuals who are stable in recovery but still benefit from ongoing support and accountability.
Clients in this level of care are generally able to maintain full-time employment, manage daily responsibilities, and continue building long-term recovery skills.
Do you have housing available?
Housing availability depends on the level of care and current openings.
Clients participating in treatment may have access to recovery housing as they progress through the program. Housing applications are typically completed during Level 2.5 services to help ensure a smooth transition when housing becomes available.
For current housing availability, please contact our admissions team.
Do I need to apply for recovery housing separately?
Yes. Clients interested in recovery housing complete a housing application during treatment.
Our team works proactively to help coordinate housing needs and plan for the next stage of recovery whenever possible.
How much does treatment cost?
Treatment costs vary depending on the services provided and your insurance coverage.
Our admissions team will review your situation, verify benefits, and explain any financial responsibilities before treatment begins.
What if I don’t have insurance?
Don’t let a lack of insurance prevent you from seeking help.
Shawnee Counseling Center works with individuals regardless of insurance status. Our team can help determine eligibility for coverage and connect you with resources that may assist with obtaining insurance or funding treatment services.
If you’re unsure about your coverage, contact us and we’ll help guide you through the process.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept Medicaid and work with a variety of insurance providers. If you’re unsure whether your insurance is accepted, our admissions team can verify your benefits and explain your options.
Do you accept self-pay clients?
Yes. While most clients use insurance or other funding sources, self-pay options may be available.
Please contact admissions directly to discuss current rates and payment options.
